About The Project

The ImPAct MDVI project was run between October 2003 and September 2006, by members of the MDVI Euronet group.

MDVI Euronet is a group of professionals dedicated to extending knowledge, understanding and best practice in the education of children and young people with Multiple Disabilities and a Visual Impairment (MDVI) regardless of educational placement.

MDVI Euronet has identified nine themes of which five have been prioritised.

The ImPAct MDVI project was part of the staff training initiative.

Six institutions which are part of MDVI Euronet were involved in this project. The project was led by Educação do IPL, Lisbon, Portugal. Also taking part were Professor Jon Magne Tellevik of Oslo University and Bengt Elmerskog of Tambartun Resource Centre, Norway. It is their ‘5 step working model’ that was used as a structure for the teacher training. (View List of Institutions)

In the winter of 2002 – 2003 project design meetings were held resulting in acceptance of the project, as a Comenius 2.1 Action (training of school education staff), in summer 2003.

The project work started in October 2003 and finish in October 2006. A post project dissemination seminar attended by 45 delegates from 14 countries was held in late October 2006. It was hosted by the Lega del Fila D’oro supported by the other partners in ImPAct MDVI.

The post project and seminar activities are mainly centred around regional groups that were formed at the dissemination seminar and this website, in particular the forum and library sections.

The news section of this website will continue to keep interested parties in touch with the development of the ideas and activities emanating from the ImPAct MDVI project – if you are interested in learning more please use the contact section in the web site to get in touch.
